We are so incredibly smart. I am always amazed at how much I learn from youth and how many ideas youth have to make the world a better place. I strongly believe that with the proper support, mentorship and education, these ideas can become a reality and push our society forward.

I know the barriers I faced as a young person of colour in accessing professional development opportunities, so I want to share some tips and resources with our youth. I also want to enable youth to occupy spaces in academia, the public sector, and the private sector, so that marginalized voices are the ones who are driving societies greatest changes and solving our greatest problems.

Why do you want to work with youth?

The first time I worked with youth was in Youth Futures and seeing the difference it makes for the participants made me want to be able to do that on a longer term. It is very hard to make important decisions and move up when you don’t have the information and resources you need for post-secondary education and for work, especially for marginalized and newcomer youth. I want to be able to help youth get the opportunities they need and deserve in order to succeed in their studies and careers.
