1. What is the Youth Futures Program?

The Youth Futures Program is a leadership development and employment readiness initiative designed to support young people in gaining skills, experience, and confidence to achieve their academic and career goals. Through workshops, mentorship, visits to post-secondary institutions, and job placements, the program equips youth with the tools they need to transition successfully into post-secondary.

2. Who is eligible to participate in the program?

The program is open to equity deserving youth between the ages of 16-21 living in low-income and social housing communities. Other eligibility criteria can be found here. Please note that specific eligibility criteria may vary. We encourage interested participants to contact us for more details.

3. What are the benefits of the program?

4. Is there a cost to participate?

No, the Youth Futures Program is free for participants.

5. What kind of job placements are available?​

Job placements vary depending on availability and the interests of the youth. Past placements have included opportunities in local businesses, government offices, community organizations, and more. Visit ourEmployers page to see a list of our employer partners 

6. How long does the program run?

The program runs for 6 months with a mix of weekly leadership training, professional development workshops, and post-secondary visits which run every Saturday from February until the end of June. Employment placements occur in the summer.

7. What kind of commitment is expected from participants?

Participants must attend ALL programming, actively engage with mentors, and complete their job placements. Consistent attendance and participation are crucial to being successful in the program. Participants will be expected to use a e-mentoring platform for communications. Failure to adhere to program expectations may result in dismissal from the program.

8. How can parents and/or guardians support their child in the program?

Parents and/or guardians can encourage their child by:
→ Reminding them of program commitments
→ Helping them prepare for interviews and job placements
→ Engaging in discussions about their experiences and goals
→ Providing transportation or other logistical support if needed
