Program Requirements

If you are between the ages of 16-21,
actively attending high school and interested in:

  • Acquiring or improving your leadership, communication,
    and conflict resolution skills
  • Acquiring new employability skills and networking opportunities 
  • Improving your post-secondary and employment outlook
  • Receiving guidance and support through mentors attending post-secondary
  • Having fun, making new friends, and connecting more with your community 
  • Removing barriers and successfully transitioning to post-secondary education

Then consider applying to the Youth Futures program. To be eligible for participation, applicants must show proof of and be: 

  • between the age of 16-21 years 
  • actively attending high school 
  • a resident of Ontario (proof of address required) 
  • from equity-deserving communities and priority neighbourhoods. 
  • demonstrating interest in exploring post-secondary education 
  • eligible to work in Canada 
  • Have a Social Insurance Number  
  • 2 pieces of valid government-issued ID, one must be a photo ID;

  • Birth Certificate  (Canada or US) 
  • Immigration papers (without photo) 
  • Record of Landing (IMM1000) 
  • Confirmation of Permanent Residence (IMM5292) 
  • Work Permit (IMM1442) 
    • Health cards and student cards ARE NOT valid pieces of ID. 
  • For Refugee applicants, you must have a valid work permit. Valid through September 2026 
  • Complete an online application 

 

To be selected, individuals must complete an online application and participate in an interview with the Youth Futures team and City staff. The application portal opens on October 31st , 2026
